LET'S GET RIGHT INTO THE NEWS
Let's recap what has been going on in the world, after the Chunin Exams.
Kirigakure had just finished its Chunin Exams; a rushed mess according to reports, the village has been left in a state of uncertainty. Some blame it on the Mizukage's death, the others on the lack of funding, regardless spite such events taking place the nation has found itself to be somewhat optimistic that perhaps now the newer generation was going to prove itself competent. After all, they hadn't had the most healthy starts in their careers according to the Daimyō, but now isn't the time for looking at the past but more so the future!
The Land of WaterWith the nation's twenty-seventh exams completed, rumours begin to circulate that despite the unrest, the current Mizukage is looking to retire in the upcoming months; reasons are currently unknown but are likely to be revealed in the next few days. Other than that, reports state that the infamous Cult that has been plaguing the land has become rather silent; with the corrupt Council destroyed, along with most of the Cult's numbers being slain over the past few months, their presence is next to very few now. However, despite this, there are a few remnants left that are loyal to the Cult and are preparing to attack Kirigakure with as much force as they can muster; a final attempt as they have nothing left to lose.
The Abyss within the region has also gone mostly dark, receding from the area; it is likely they are simply hiding and biding their time, but for what reason? It's unsure.

And for news that might be considered bad or good depending on the viewer's morals? The Black Market has decided to settle it's roots into the Land of Water! Drizzletown being used as one of it's many 'export-import' zones, which has increased piracy within the area, along with other criminal activities... This may or may not be a boon for Kirigakure's Shinobi, depending on how they handle this!

The Land of LightningThe Land of Lightning is oddly silent for the time being, reports indicate that they are preparing to strike Sunagakure hard and fast in the future; they seek to end the war and crush The Land of Wind, possibly to steal its tailed beast so they can bolster their power further, so they might contend with the powerhouse that is Konohagakure within The Land of Fire.
It may be for the best for Kirigakure to hamper these efforts, less Kumogakure becomes too big of a deal to handle in the future.
The Land of WindDue to the plague ruining the southern part of the country, things have slowly been winding down within The Land of Wind; Sunagakure hasn't been making much in the way of moves. With it struggling to deal with the deadly 'Sand Fever' along with having been pushed back by Kumogakure from it's fleeting skirmishes, things do not look good for the world's third superpower... But does this mean that someone else will take their place in the future? So far, it is looking that way.
Nadeshiko VillageThe small island village of Nadeshiko has officially begun trading operations with The Land of Water, bolstering both the nation's and independent village's economies. In due time, they will call upon Kirigakure as to conduct missions and possibly aid in restoring their neighbouring island. Some believe it's to better prepare Kirigakure for war.
