I know the actual profession perks and capabilities haven't been detailed but.. In previous wipes there were a pretty low count of skillcards/jutsu needed to advance a tier in a profession. For example, T2 Kenjutsu required 2 kenjutsu skillcards. There was no regard for what rank they needed to be, and so that could just be two D-ranks. That wipe there was also a lot of generalists. Most builds went something like 2 elements and a cqc spec to supplement. The problem was that all people ended up being even on all fields, which doesn't properly demonstrate the cons of being a generalist.
I think the skillcards required to advance tiers should be raised. An elementalist with taijutsu to supplement their build shouldn't be able to go punch for punch with a taijutsu specialist.. but since they had the same tier, it happened. I think there should be more time dedicated to achieving higher tiers of a profession. That way, people who focus on a certain thing are indirectly rewarded with (generally) being better than someone who has that same profession as a supplement.
It also forces people to play to the strengths of their build more, instead of everyone being even in cqc and jutsu usage.. and it eliminates any sort of arguments for WoN's stupid ass +.5 affinities.
tl;dr Raise skillcards required to advance professions. It makes the game better. Not everyone should be the same level in everything.

I think that this raises a fair enough point. With how tiers are meant to represent equal skill, it would only make sense to put that sort of technique limitation for advancement in there. Harder technique = more skill, after all. Even I knew to exploit that sort of thing when I last played WoN, for instance.
It wouldn't be difficult to implement either, which is a plus.

As long as it's a progressively harder type thing I'm down.
"You want T3 Tai? Your all D-rank skillset won't cut it, scrub."
On another note; down with Divey and their tyranny.
