Well hello there! I'm here to talk about Hoshigaki improvements and what can be done to make them a more effective clan at lower levels. As it stands right now, the only real benefit a lower level Hoshigaki has is that they aren't affected by being underwater, the problem being, very little, if any fights/events take place on/under water. With the decision being made to ruin the chakra boost by making it a T4 Semi-Unique and all of the clan's special jutsu being B-Rank or higher, there really isn't much to look forward to with these shark people beyond hopes for the future which honestly while understandable is COMPLETELY underwhelming so.. Let's look at some options for the Hoshigaki Clan that will go a long way toward making them a fun clan.
1) The Good - Return the +1 Vitality to the clan, with 6 tiers of everything existing now, it's really not that overwhelming of a buff for a clan to have access to. Given that you intentionally nerfed/changed this though, I imagine this is the least likely option.
2) The Meh - Look at the clan and all of those jutsu and their physical appearance. Sure seems to lend itself to Suiton. Let them log for a Suiton perk a tier earlier than what they would normally be able to rank wise.
3) The Smelly - This one seems to have the least impact and thus the change I would really hope you would be at least SLIGHTLY likely to consider. Give them the old Inuzuka buff of having either +1 or +2 to their smell tier. A shark smelling blood in the water is a fairly common saying and it should merit this. Just... give these guys SOMETHING that makes them stand out at lower level that will ever actually matter..

I support smell.
Logging for stuff early is iffy. Especially considering it's an open clan.
(Here on PS having higher tiers of elements lessen the amount of chakra jutsu take. Add the chakra boost later on and the open clan becomes ridiculous.)
Hoshigaki have more A-ranks than all but one of the clans at present and considering how LTing works I'm pretty sure we'll be able to cop B-ranks/A-ranks quickly.
(If you save your LT points you can get A-ranks at C through ECs. I see now that Hoshigaki A-ranks all have T4 reqs which is a gate but if one of those is lowered to a T3 req things should be fine.)
Add that there probably won't be that many Hoshigaki because they're blue and gross I for one think Hoshigaki have been given a pretty fair shake all in all.
Tl;dr: Give Hoshigaki smell. Maybe lower a req for a tech.

Hoshigaki don’t need improvements quite frankly. Something to keep in mind is that two of the A-Ranks it has are two of the strongest suiton techs in existence while remaining only semi-uniques. Then add on the fact that the Hoshigaki are almost guaranteed to be the clan that gets samehada, it gives them a better end game power set than even the locked clans. What’s demon fish going to do against an A-Rank that sucks all the chakra out and just gets bigger?
Just because a clan doesn’t have instant gratification, doesn’t mean it needs buffs. All that buffing it would do is cause people to complain about it being overpowered down the line.

How exactly does being able to smell stuff better or getting a C-Rank jutsu added push either of these two things over the top..? |
