Trouble spreads in the west!
Sunagakure mobilizes specialized squadrons to hinder Kumogakure!
Things between Kumogakure and Sunagakure are beginning to heat up; more battles between Shinobi from both sides have been witnessed by civilians within the Land of Lightning, as Sunagakure moves out special squads of highly trained Wind-Nin to combat Kumogakure's forces!
Hidden villages near the warring two, have grown cautious and paranoid as battles and skirmishes between Kumogakure and Sunagakure threaten to spill past their borders and into their lands.
The Land of Lightning
The Land of Lightning has seen a lot more conflict in the past couple of weeks within it's territory, mostly around Kumogakure were small squadrons of Wind-Nin have been battling Kumogakure's sizeable number of reserved forces; most of these battles have either resulted in stalemates or defeats for the Wind-Nin unsurprisingly, despite this, whereas the Wind-Nin have sustained injuries mostly, they haven't suffered as many outright losses compared to Kumogakure's reserves that consists of various Genin and lower ranking Chūnin. As for the Land of Lightning's territorial military consisting of mercenaries and trained swordsmen and archers, they have been a lot more restrictive on incoming trade to the nation, along with any wagons, boats and people trying to enter. They assume the Wind-Nin are sneaking in by using concealed caravans or disguises.
That being said, the war between Kumogakure and Sunagakure has yet to hit it's peak just yet. As for Shimogakure and The Land of Frost; the latter has been absorbed by the Land of Lightning which has now officially expanded it's borders, where as Shimogakure is now being recognized as a hidden village under The Land of Lightning's influence, due to now being funded by the Lightning Daimyō in earnest, as to help with war efforts and otherwise.
The Land of Water
The Land of Water has been looking towards the east most recently, over the seas; the Daimyō of the nation looking to expand the nation's trade, by trading with the foreign distant eastern world as to increase exports and imports. It is said to the east, lays the small island belonging to the Nadeshiko Village and to the further north-east, is The Land of Snow, in which the ruins of the hidden village of Yukigakure resides deep within the frosty region. And to the furthest east, is the Land of Swamps, though not much else has been reported just yet by explorers and scouts. The advisors of commerce wish to begin trading missions with both the Nadeshiko Village and The Land of Snow, as soon as humanly possible. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of important worldly news that The Land of Water is generating just yet...
The Land of Wind
Meanwhile in The Land of Wind, things have been surprisingly quiet, as Sunagakure has been launching a heavy-handed and aggressive campaign against Kumogakure and that due to this, it has been able to occupy Kumogakure's attention away from launching counter-attacks or missions directly into The Land of Wind or against Sunagakure; however, it is likely to change, as this campaign hasn't been all that successful at the moment. As for the news of banditry and other nefarious business, it has been surprisingly quieter than usual; which confirms the suspicion that some of Wind-Nin are responsible for the criminal acts within The Land of Wind.
Ishigakure
A minor nation's hidden village has recently made some moves. Ishigakure or rather it's Shinobi have been responsible for attacking bandits within the Land of Wind and near it's borders, some of which have been identified as Wind-Nin; so far Sunagakure is too focused on attacking Kumogakure to reply with proper force, whilst some speculate due to Ishigakure's good relations with Iwagakure, along with the minor nation wishing to join itself with The Land of Earth to create an alliance suggests that Sunagakure probably doesn't want to suffer war on two fronts just yet.
Amegakure
It is said Amegakure will be hosting the Chūnin exams for the following villages; Iwagakure, Ishigakure, Konohagakure and Sunagakure, in a few weeks time. During of which, it is expected they will be electing a new village head shortly after the exams.
Eyes on the west and east!
With news spreading that The Land of Water is investigating the currently unexplored or less frequented land masses, east of the central Shinobi nations. The Land of Fire and Land of Lightning may very well do the same, or seek to explore the worlds past the western mountain range concealing the western portions of the world.
